Ben Affleck Wants To Quit Playing Batman Already?! See What Insiders Are Saying!

By  |

By now, Ben Affleck knows a stinker when he smells one.

We sensed some trouble brewing in Gotham City last month when the multi-hyphenate stepped down from directing the upcoming solo Batman movie — supposedly so he could focus all his energy on playing the superhero.

But now it looks like Warner Bros. might need some saving, as new rumors are claiming Ben doesn’t even want to be Batman anymore!

Before the Argo filmmaker bowed out of directing the Batman v Superman followup, he was making some distressing claims in interviews — saying there wasn’t a script yet and that the project wasn’t even a “sure thing”!

And according to insiders, the 44-year-old’s apathetic responses are due to the fact that he wants to get out of playing the Caped Crusader altogether.

In the latest episode of YouTube‘s Collider Movie Talk, host John Campea explained he had spoken to three separate sources connected to the hot mess at WB, who all said Batfleck wants to hang up his cape for good.

Prefacing that listeners should take the news “with a massive, massive grain of salt,” he dished:

“I’ve talked to three separate people, who are connected in some way, to what is going on over at Warner Bros. What has come out of the conversation with all three was this. They’re telling me that, Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he does want out. He doesn’t want to be Batman anymore. I have been told that Affleck is talking with Warner Bros. in an attempt to get out of being Batman. If they do not let him out of being Batman, that the stand alone Batman film that ultimately happens, will be the last time we see Affleck as Batman, because he apparently wants out.”

Wow! He must really not like the direction the cinematic universe is going if he wants out that badly.

This isn’t the first report to hint that Affleck is having second thoughts on committing to the DC Extended Universe. One recent report claimed there was “a chance” he could back away from the role and stay on as writer and producer.

Of course, everything is speculation at this point.

Back in December, the actor said that The Batman was on track to start production in the spring of 2017 — but now Matt Reeves is (probably) helming the film, and its star is debating taking off into the night.

When you take into account Warner Bros. is having similar problems with their Flash movie, you have to wonder how many dark nights before we see Batman back.

Take a listen to the episode of Collider Movie Talk (below), with The Batman tea spilling around the 17:40 mark.
