In December 2015, Nike released its highly-anticipated Air Jordan Retro “Legend Blue” sneakers, which cost about $400. Dad bought the shoes for his son before Christmas.
One week later, his son’s report card came out, and it was less than satisfactory. Dad grounded him and cancelled Christmas.
After grounding him and attendingteacher conferences to figure out how to help his son, his grades came back up.But twoweeks before his new report card came out, he decided to not turn in severalassignments, resulted in warnings from his teachers.
That’s when Dad decided to make his son live as an example and be the role model by writing“My Grades Matter” on his son’s new sneakers in permanent black marker.
“Every day, until the grades are A and B’s, I need this message to come across,” Dad says. “Grades matter, not the shoes.”
