Floods Drove Her From her Home. Then A FedEx Employee Grabs her Hands To Pray

With so much heartache, tragedy, and devastation occurring as a result of flooding in Louisiana, there have been countless stories of people coming to the aid of their fellow man.

While there are, of course, the incredible rescue workers who are going above and beyond to save those in harm’s way, there are also plenty of ordinary people who are trying to help out in any way they can, like the couple who cooked a barbecue for an entire shelter’s worth of displacedfolks.

And now, there is even one more beautiful story that has come out of Louisiana in recent days that revealsjust how important it is to show love and compassion in the face of hardship.

Courtney Burkett Berdon recently posted a photograph on Facebook that has since gone viral. The photo shows her mother (who was forced to abandon her home to rising floodwaters) holding hands with a FedEx employee… and praying.

Scroll through below to see why this stunning image is moving hearts and inspiring thousands with its message of hope and humanity.

Courtney Burkett Berdon lives with her family in Louisiana, and like so many others, her life has been drastically affected by the tragic floodwaters.

However, in light of so much tragedy, Berdon recently posted a photograph on Facebook that proves the strength of the human spirit and the love for fellow man are both still alive and well.

Berdon’s mother, Donna Burkett, was forced to leave her house in Central Louisiana due to rising floodwaters. Like so many others, this left Burkett (as her daughter describes) “hurting.”

Fortunately, Burkett was about to meet an individual who felt nothing but compassion for her and her plight.

Berdon posted on her Facebook wall:

“The FedEx man was making a delivery at my home. He saw my mom was hurting. He stopped and asked if he could pray for her. And there they stood… Together praying…”

She continued: “In the midst of tragedy and devastation, this is when we as humans do our very best. We come together and selflessly help each other one by one!

“This man will never know the impact he had on my mother but I know it has impacted her for a lifetime.”

Berdon’s photo and message have since gone viral with over 17,000 Facebook likes and over 6,000 shares.

Since Berdon’s post, the amazing FedEx employee has been identified as Johnathan C. Nichols. It appears this isn’t the first time he has made a huge difference in the lives of others.

One Facebook commenter wrote on Berdon’s post: “This is the same FedEx man that stopped about a year ago when my neighbor got her lawn mower stuck in the ditch. He saw we were struggling and stopped and pulled the lawn mower out. He is a very special man! FedEx is lucky to have such an employee.”

The coming together of two complete strangers in the face of tragedy just proves that humankind is at its best when displaying kindness, compassion, and love.
