What started out as a road trip through the mountain ranges of Portland, Oregon turned into a memory of a lifetime for a young couple.

Alex Gensitskiy was aimlessly driving along when he spotted Munra Point rising like a beacon into the grey fog.

He turned to me and said, you know what, were going to climb that mountain right there!, says Katie Verkovodthrough a toothy white grin, eyes gleaming as she recounted the moment to Inside Edition.

They trekked 90 minutes up the mountainside until they reached the top. They hugged each other, and she noticed his heart was beating abnormally fast.

Alex youre so out of shape, she naively teased him, unaware that it was just nervous – it wasnt that he was out of shape.

Alex on the other hand realized how amazing this story would be to tell his kids, so on a whim he knelt down and said, ‘I love you’ for the first time, following that with the question, will you marry me?

As they giddily made their way down the mountainside, they were only missing one thing. Both had left their phones in the car, so they werent able to capture theprecious moments of their proposal on camera.

Little did they know that a man, Paul Wolfe, who was taking in the view had turned around just in time to see their silhouettes and snap a picture! The only obstacle was they were complete strangers and miles away from each other at the time.

But Paul decided he wasnt going to keep this moment to himself. Instead, he created posts on Facebook, Instagram and Reddit in an effort to give their mountain top engagement a fairytale ending.

The couple had left their phones in the car, so although the moment instantly become a cherished memory, they had no photos of the day or so they thought.

Little did they know that a hiker, Paul Wolfe, was taking in the scenery below and happened to take a photo just as Alexgot down on one knee.

After sharing the image with his friends,he told his friends that he was thinking about tracking the mystery coupledown. His friends thought the idea was brilliant, so Paul started his search with this reddit post.

People went crazy for it! Some followed it for the updates, other for the entertaining comments, but as the comments flooded in, the picture soared acrossthe internet and evolved quickly into a viral sensation.

It didn’t take long before Paul got a bite! Alex’s best man had spotted the image and put Alexin touch with Paul.

Katie somehow missed the buzz and wound up being the last person to find out, butclearly a case of saving the best for last!

Its great how social media decided to find us – All these people came together and wanted to bring a happy ending,” Katie enthused.

The now-married couple will be forever grateful for the life-changing moment that Paul had frozen forever in time. If you found this couple’s magical ending as unbelievable as we did, be sure to share it with your friends.
