Photographer Puts Maternity Photo On Facebook, But Is Stunned By Comments For The Woman In Red

By  |

Alex Bolen has been photographing people, places and things for over five years in the Winfield, Missouri area.

Alex shoots all kinds of sessions, but one of her most recent photoshoots is going viral for an incredibly touching reason.

Heather, Hillary, Kailia, Sara, Ashley and Hannah are mothers with a touching story to tell, each one different yet connected by their rainbow babies.

A rainbow baby is a baby born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss. More women are speaking out on social media with stories about their own rainbow babies, thus helping other families find hope and faith in the future after suffering such a devastating loss.

“These mommas are just 6 out of the millions that experience pregnancy/infant loss every day,” Alex wrote on Facebook about her shoot with the mothers. “Some speak out. Some stay silent. Some have lost many. Some try for months or years. Some meet their sleeping angels. All loved and never forgotten.”

Within three daysof posting the photo of all six moms gathered together, each one in a different color of the rainbow, the powerful image went viral across the world. “I could not have done it without these 6 incredible ladies,” Alex writes.

“So much hope, faith and prayer went toward this baby. We kept up with weekly ultrasounds and multiple rounds of lab work.

And this baby….Louis Micheal….he’s a fighter and has hung on for the long haul!

Currently almost 38 weeks pregnant with yet another miracle!

We feel completely blessed to be THIS close to welcoming our third baby boy.”

“Zealand was born June 21st, 2016. He is our blessing after the storm. Our beauty after the pain.

He will never replace the baby we lost, but he has helped to heal the hole in our hearts.”

“I was not expecting a boy but we are so excited to love our miracle! I cannot wait to meet him and explain how he is a rainbow baby!

I want other parents to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel after such a tragedy!”

“I want other women to know that it’s OKAY to talk about your loss. Miscarriage needs to stop being such a taboo subject.

I never would have opened up and talked about my loss if it weren’t for another woman in my life talking about hers. Her story gave me strength.”

“I have gone through thousands of shots, pills, supplements, transfusions, tears. 6 losses total, if you were keeping track.

I have been given an amazing gift of being these babies’ mommy. I’ve been blessed beyond measure, even in the storms.

I spent years isolated with our losses but began to speak out because that was the only way I knew how to heal.”

“I hope my story brings hope to other mothers out their that are waiting for their rainbow.

I feel like if my story helps even one single person then Floras life, even though short, was so worth all the heartache of loosing her.

Our angel babies are gone, but never forgotten.”

A rainbow is a promise
of sunshine after rain
of calm after storms
of joy after sadness
of peace after pain
of love after loss.
