Player nails backflip over wannabe tackler in rugby league game

Unlike in American football, where the running flip seems to be the game’s most common party trick, it’s yet to be much of a thing in rugby league.

Quindan Smith is looking to change that, pulling off a killer flip during the Kununurra Nines Tournament in Western Australia on the weekend.

He backflipped over a hapless player looking to tackle, winning himself an excited reaction from the crowd. Unfortunately, it didn’t earn him many more metres, and Smith was pulled to the ground immediately after.

The video was posted on the Facebook page of Kimberley Rugby League, and although a little dangerous looking, it’s hard not to be thrilled by this bit of trickery.
