Today is my brothers b-day, it read. He would have been 36 today. Every year I go eat his favorite meal (hot dogs) and tip the waitress his age. Happy B-day Wes.

Mac’s is operated by a father and son duo. Michael McCray, the son, toldDaily Mail Onlinethat Claire ran into his office crying and placed the receipt in his hand.

When Michael read the note, he broke down. None of his employees knew that he, too, lost his brother. “In just a few weeks he would have been 28,” Michael told Daily Mail Online. “It’s odd that this man would choose my restaurant over any other place.”

When Claire went home for the night, she decided to post her story and a photo of the receipt online, where it quickly went viral.
