Watch the first ‘Ghost in the Shell’ trailer right here

From manga to anime to star-powered Hollywood blockbuster, the first look at director Rupert Sanders’ Ghost in the Shell is here.

The adaptation controversially stars Scarlett Johansson as The Major, a human-cyborg construct that fights the worst of the criminal underworld as the head of an elite task force, Section 9. Even in a post-Doctor Strange world, this one looks pretty trippy.

It’s also worth mentioning that, even after all the dialogue around Johansson’s casting as a Japanese character, the trailer spends most of its time on the white members of the cast. If Paramount was hoping to put to rest accusations of the movie being “whitewashed,” this won’t be the trailer that does it.

Ghost in the Shell arrives in theaters on March 31, 2017.
